With scholarships from Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), 48 disadvantaged youths recently graduated with the skills to thrive in the red-hot cloud computing field through the AWS re/Start Program.
This initiative marks CPI’s first foray into digital skills development, recognizing the explosive growth of cloud computing. Businesses are scrambling to adopt cloud solutions, creating a surge in demand for qualified cloud professionals. This program equips young Filipinos with the technical expertise to design, manage, and optimize cloud infrastructure, putting them on track for lucrative careers in a rapidly expanding field.
The program leverages the renowned AWS re/Start program, known for its accessibility and inclusivity. Regardless of background, anyone with the drive to learn can apply. Kymberlyn Valbuena, the program’s top graduate, is a testament to this.
Overcoming initial hesitation, she found the program to be welcoming and empowering. With Chevron and AWS’s support, Kymberlyn mastered cloud fundamentals and honed valuable communication and social skills, propelling her to the top of her class.

The AWS re/Start program is offered at no cost to the learners and a technology background is not required to apply. After completing their three months of training, the learners validate their skills through the AWS Cloud Practitioner certification exam. Post-certification, they were introduced to 15+ hiring partners who conducted job interviews for these graduates.
