Maya backs CICC’s scam safe push as online fraud threats continue to rise

As online scams grow more sophisticated and pervasive, fintech platform Maya is reinforcing its cybersecurity stance by backing the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center’s (CICC) Scam Safe initiative — an effort aimed at improving public awareness and understanding of digital fraud.

Maya’s support for the program aligns with its broader approach to cybersecurity, which treats protection not just as a technical function, but as a shared responsibility between platforms, regulators, and users.

The initiative, led by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) through the CICC, focuses on educating Filipinos about common scam tactics while strengthening coordination across sectors in responding to cybercrime.

Maya: Securing the future of finance

At Maya, security is embedded across both its infrastructure and customer-facing experience. The company continues to invest in resilient systems, real-time monitoring, and advanced risk controls, while integrating security-by-design principles into its app and digital products spanning payments, savings, and credit.

“We’re pleased to support initiatives like Scam Safe, which underscore the importance of collaboration in addressing cybersecurity challenges,” said Toff Rada, Head of Corporate Affairs at Maya. “Partnerships across government, finance, telcos, and technology are critical to educating the public, sharing best practices, and responding more effectively to evolving scam threats.”

Beyond platform-level safeguards, Maya has also placed increasing emphasis on consumer education as a first line of defense.

Promoting safer digital habits

Through “ScamPatrol,” its anti-scam awareness campaign, the company regularly shares practical tips and timely advisories to help users recognize fraud schemes and adopt safer digital habits — particularly as digital financial services become more embedded in everyday life.

By supporting Scam Safe, Maya reinforces the idea that cybersecurity extends beyond compliance or technology alone. Instead, it requires sustained cooperation, information-sharing, and public awareness to build a safer and more trusted digital financial ecosystem for Filipinos.

As digital adoption accelerates, initiatives like Scam Safe highlight the growing role fintech players can play — not only in delivering financial access, but also in helping protect users in an increasingly complex online environment.
