Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. (Metrobank) is leveraging its 64th anniversary to roll out a suite of consumer incentives, combining short-term credit card cashback promotions with long-term retail lending drives.
The month-long campaign targets both everyday consumer spending and major capital purchases, reflecting a broader effort by Philippine universal banks to boost retail engagement across digital channels, card transactions, and property financing.
Incentivizing daily spending and digital onboarding
Throughout September, the bank is introducing structured cashback incentives across its credit card portfolio.
Weekend purchases qualify cardholders for up to ₱1,500 in cashback on accumulated local straight spends, while a weekday spend requirement of ₱1,000 enters users into a pool for cashback rewards reaching up to ₱20,000.
To capture cross-border transaction volume, Metrobank Visa credit cardholders can earn up to ₱10,000 in cashback on accumulated foreign currency and airline purchases.
The anniversary push also intersects with the bank’s digital deposit acquisition strategy. First-time accountholders opening an eSavings account via the Metrobank App through September 30 will receive a ₱100 e-commerce gift voucher, mirroring an industry-wide push to lower customer acquisition costs through mobile-first onboarding.
Additional merchant tie-ups for the month include flexible payment options—such as 0% interest installment plans up to 36 months and 90-day deferred payment schemes at select consumer tech retailers—alongside dining discounts across major food service groups.
Retail lending push at SM Megamall

Beyond immediate consumer perks, Metrobank is deploying its anniversary campaign to stimulate its core retail loan portfolios, specifically auto and home financing.
The bank will host its “Live & Drive” financial expo on September 12 and 13 at the SM Megamall Fashion Hall. The event brings together real estate developers, automotive dealers, and Metrobank lending specialists, providing a centralized hub for prospective buyers to evaluate mortgage terms, car loan packages, and home equity solutions.
As competition among the country’s top private lenders intensifies, Metrobank — currently the Philippines’ second-largest private universal bank by total assets — is using the 64-year milestone to reinforce its dual position in retail banking: capturing daily transactional spending while underwriting major household balance sheet decisions.
