As communities in southern Mindanao continue to recover from the powerful earthquake that struck offshore Sarangani earlier this month, Vantage Foundation has joined relief efforts by providing emergency assistance to affected families in parts of the region.
The magnitude 7.8 earthquake, which has since caused P1.29-B in infrastructure damage, left dozens dead, hundreds injured, and forced thousands of residents from their homes, according to figures released by the Philippine Office of Civil Defense and reported by the Philippine News Agency. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake occurred on June 8 at 7:37 a.m. at a depth of 33 kilometers.
In the days following the disaster, Vantage Foundation mobilized employees in the Philippines to support relief operations in General Santos City and nearby communities, working with local partners to distribute essential supplies to families affected by the earthquake.
The initiative covered several hard-hit areas, including General Santos City, Alabel, and Malapatan, where volunteers helped prepare and deliver food packs and other emergency necessities while assisting ongoing community relief efforts.
“Our priority is to help affected families access practical assistance during this deeply challenging period,” said Alex Samson, Vantage Foundation’s country manager for the Philippines.
“Our local colleagues are present in the affected communities, helping to deliver essential supplies and support families facing the immediate consequences of the earthquake. We believe meaningful humanitarian action requires not only resources but also direct engagement with the communities we serve.”

The relief effort forms part of the foundation’s broader community outreach initiatives, which focus on disaster response, education, and social welfare across several countries.
Since its establishment in the United Kingdom in 2023, Vantage Foundation has supported child welfare programs in Australia, community food assistance initiatives in Malaysia, women’s empowerment projects in Indonesia, and emergency relief efforts following the Tai Po Level 5 fire in Hong Kong in 2025.
Rather than limiting its role to financial assistance, the foundation said it encourages employee participation in community programs, allowing local teams to work directly with partner organizations during relief operations.
Recovery efforts in parts of Mindanao remain ongoing as affected communities continue rebuilding their homes and restoring their livelihoods. Vantage Foundation said it will continue working with local partners to support recovery initiatives, with additional updates on its assistance expected as relief operations progress.
