Insights from Amazon Web Services (AWS) at SAPPHIRE 2026 underscore a clear shift for enterprise leaders: the focus is no longer on whether to move SAP systems to the cloud, but on how quickly organizations can complete the transition — and how effectively they can leverage the data once they do.

For C-suite executives, especially those overseeing large-scale SAP environments, the challenge is increasingly urgent. SAP transformations remain among the most complex digital initiatives, spanning finance, supply chain, manufacturing, and customer operations.

As artificial intelligence becomes central to business strategy, its impact remains limited when critical enterprise data is still locked in on-premise systems. AWS emphasized that unlocking AI-driven value depends on moving SAP workloads into cloud environments where data can be accessed, integrated, and activated in real time.

This shift carries particular relevance for financial institutions in the Philippines, which are navigating rapid digital transformation, tightening regulatory expectations, and rising customer demand for seamless digital services. Cloud-enabled SAP environments are increasingly viewed as foundational to improving operational resilience and enabling faster, more data-driven innovation across the sector.

In a blog post by Bhuvan Wadhwa and Sara Alligood, the company noted that thousands of organizations already run SAP workloads on AWS’s cloud infrastructure, with a growing share adopting SAP Cloud ERP.

AWS also highlighted continued recognition in enterprise infrastructure services for SAP HANA workloads, alongside service-level commitments supporting mission-critical deployments.

AWS boosts SAP migration and AI integration speed

At SAPPHIRE 2026, AWS outlined new capabilities aimed at accelerating SAP migration, simplifying infrastructure complexity, and strengthening integration between SAP systems and AI tools. The company announced SAP Business Data Cloud Connect for Amazon Athena, a new offering that provides bi-directional, zero-copy integration between SAP Business Data Cloud and Amazon Athena.

Teams across organizations will be able to build analytics reports, dashboards, and AI agents on live SAP data — without replication delays or IT bottlenecks.

These enhancements include tighter orchestration between SAP migration frameworks and AWS-native services, designed to reduce manual effort and improve consistency in large-scale data transfers.

AWS also pointed to growing ecosystem adoption, with partners leveraging AI to streamline migration processes, including automated integration mapping, issue resolution, and validation workflows. The cloud giant has been recognized by ISG as a leader in SAP HANA Infrastructure Services for five consecutive years and now offers a 99.95% SLA for RISE with SAP workloads on AWS.

Beyond migration, AWS emphasized improvements in secure connectivity, enabling enterprises to link existing infrastructure with SAP environments more efficiently while reducing network complexity. These advancements are intended to shorten onboarding timelines and improve time to value for enterprise customers.

On the application and development side, AWS highlighted the role of AI-assisted coding tools in modernizing SAP workloads. These capabilities aim to support developers working in SAP ABAP environments by embedding AI into existing workflows, improving productivity and accelerating application modernization.

The company also outlined plans to expand availability of SAP-related services across additional regions, supporting organizations with latency-sensitive and compliance-driven requirements.

AWS shifts focus from migration to value creation

Inclusive Tech Growth Accelerates in Philippines via AWS

A key theme across AWS’s announcements was the transition from migration to value creation.

AWS and SAP are expanding their collaboration to make cloud migrations faster, automating critical migration steps by integrating new orchestration capabilities directly into the RISE with SAP System Transition Workbench.

Once SAP data is available in the cloud, organizations can apply advanced analytics and AI services to generate insights, automate decision-making, and improve customer experiences.

AWS also highlighted integrations between SAP data platforms and analytics services such as Amazon Athena, enabling more seamless access to enterprise data without duplication. This approach supports real-time analytics use cases while reducing reliance on traditional data pipelines.

Customer engagement was another focus area, with plans to integrate AI-driven capabilities across enterprise service platforms to support more responsive and intelligent customer interactions.

Across industries, early adopters are already reporting measurable gains. Companies such as Hyundai and Mercedes-Benz were cited as examples of organizations using cloud-based SAP data and AI tools to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.

These outcomes are being further accelerated through the AWS and SAP AI Co-Innovation Program, announced at SAPPHIRE 2025, which enables enterprises to harness the strengths of SAP and AWS from concept through enterprise-wide deployment via partners including Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, and Deloitte, helping customers identify high-value use cases and move from concept to production faster.

AWS attributed these results to its broader co-innovation ecosystem with SAP and enterprise partners, which helps organizations move from pilot projects to scaled production deployments more quickly.

For markets like the Philippines, these developments signal a broader shift in enterprise technology strategy — where cloud infrastructure is no longer just a modernization step, but the foundation for AI-driven transformation across industries, including financial services.
