For a microfinance institution serving communities across the country, reliable connectivity can affect how quickly people receive assistance, complete transactions, and stay connected to the financial services they rely on.

Taytay sa Kauswagan Inc. (TSKI) is strengthening the technology supporting its nationwide operations through a partnership with PLDT Enterprise, as it looks to improve branch connectivity and keep its services running smoothly as the organization expands.

TSKI is a Philippine microfinance institution that provides financial services to underserved communities. As its operations grew, however, connectivity issues in some locations began to affect communication between branches, day-to-day operations, and the delivery of services to members.

The organization turned to PLDT Enterprise and Smart for connectivity solutions that could address its fixed and wireless requirements while supporting operations across its branch network.

PLDT Enterprise, the corporate business arm of PLDT, provides fixed-line, wireless, and information and communications technology (ICT) services to businesses. Its enterprise solutions are designed to help organizations maintain connectivity, improve operational efficiency, and respond to changing technology requirements.

For TSKI, the need was straightforward: stronger and more dependable connectivity that would allow its branches and teams to stay connected while continuing to serve members in different parts of the country.

“Connectivity becomes most meaningful when it helps organizations do more for the people they serve. Our partnership with TSKI is about giving its teams a stronger digital foundation so they can operate more efficiently, communicate more effectively, and continue extending accessible financial services to communities across the country,” said Javier C. Lagdameo, Vice President, Domestic Enterprise Group, PLDT Enterprise.

Connectivity becomes part of financial inclusion

The partnership comes as financial institutions, including microfinance providers, increasingly rely on digital tools to manage operations and reach customers.

Cloud-based systems, mobile technologies, digital payments, and cashless transactions are becoming part of how financial services are delivered, while internet connectivity has become essential for branches that need to communicate with central offices and process transactions in real time.

For microfinance institutions operating outside major business centers, the reliability of that infrastructure can be particularly important.

TSKI’s digital transformation, therefore, is not simply about adding new technology. It is also about giving its branches the connectivity they need to respond to members, coordinate with other offices, and keep everyday operations moving.

“As we continue growing, having dependable connectivity across our operations becomes increasingly important to the way we serve our members. This partnership helps us strengthen the infrastructure behind our branches so our teams can work more efficiently while we stay focused on expanding access to financial services for the communities that need them,” said Peter M. Montalban, President of TSKI.

TSKI evaluated PLDT Enterprise and Smart as it considered solutions for its growing operational requirements. Nationwide network coverage, enterprise-grade connectivity, and business communication services were among the factors considered in the transition.

The partnership is expected to support more consistent connectivity across TSKI’s branch network, while helping its teams communicate and handle member transactions more efficiently.

For PLDT Enterprise, the collaboration also illustrates how telecommunications infrastructure can support businesses whose work extends beyond their own operations.

In TSKI’s case, better connectivity ultimately supports its ability to provide financial services to communities that may have fewer options for accessing them.

As more financial services move into digital channels, the infrastructure behind those services will become increasingly important. For institutions like TSKI, that means connectivity is no longer simply an IT requirement. It is part of the way they reach and serve their members.
