HitPay brings payment integrations into AI coding tools as agentic development goes mainstream

Software developers using HitPay can now build, test, and manage payment integrations directly within their AI coding assistants, reflecting a broader shift toward agentic AI tools across Southeast Asia’s fintech development ecosystem.

Singapore-headquartered payments platform HitPay announced the launch of new developer tools that integrate directly into popular AI coding environments such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and Windsurf. The features allow developers to handle routine payment tasks without navigating separate dashboards or managing additional logins.

The launch comes as AI-assisted software development moves from passive code suggestions to agentic execution—where AI models run scripts, execute terminal commands, and interact directly with external software platforms.

Eliminating dashboard friction for developers

Through the new integration, developers can prompt their AI assistant to generate payment requests, look up transaction or customer details, and create QR checkout pages natively within their workspace.

“Every payments company is bolting an AI chatbot onto their dashboard and calling it innovation. We think that’s the wrong layer entirely,” said Aditya Haripurkar, Co-Founder and CEO of HitPay. “Developers in this region aren’t asking for a smarter dashboard. They’re asking for payments to work where they actually build things now, inside their AI tools, without a separate login or a support ticket.”

For developers using Claude Code, a dedicated plugin connects directly to HitPay’s live systems via OAuth authentication. To address security risks associated with autonomous AI agents, the plugin operates within strict safety guardrails: it cannot process refunds, move funds, or execute bulk record deletions.

Meanwhile, developers using tools like Cursor or GitHub Copilot can access a lighter skills package that generates reviewable payment integration code. For terminal-focused workflows, HitPay has also introduced a command-line interface (CLI) in public beta to simulate webhook events and test transactions outside a graphical interface.

The move aligns with the rapid adoption of open integration protocols across the global tech landscape. The Model Context Protocol (MCP)—the open standard connecting AI models to external data sources and tools—now powers over 10,000 active public servers and generates more than 97 million monthly downloads across ecosystem platforms from Anthropic, Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI.

HitPay’s existing developer ecosystem includes more than 500 integrated partners who have collectively earned over US$1 million in commissions to date.

Founded in 2016 and backed by Y Combinator and Tiger Global, HitPay provides online, point-of-sale, and B2B payment services to more than 20,000 small and mid-sized businesses across the Asia-Pacific region.
