Metrobank extends branch hours, opens Saturdays to ease year-end banking rush

As Filipinos brace for a surge in holiday spending, remittances, and last-minute financial transactions, Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. (Metrobank) is extending branch operating hours and opening select branches on Saturdays to help customers manage their year-end banking needs more conveniently.

The country’s second-largest private universal bank announced that several branches will operate beyond regular business hours during the holiday season, while select locations across Metro Manila, South Luzon, and North Luzon will be open until early afternoon on Saturdays.

Under the adjusted schedule, chosen Metro Manila branches will extend weekday operations by one hour, closing at 5:00 p.m., allowing customers additional time to complete in-branch transactions amid packed holiday calendars.

The move comes as banks typically experience heavier foot traffic toward the end of the year, driven by increased consumer spending, fund transfers to families and provinces, and businesses settling accounts before the new year.

“With the holidays being one of the busiest times for many Filipinos, we want to ensure that our clients can complete their banking transactions with comfort and ease,” the bank said in a press release. “By extending our branch operations, we aim to give our customers more flexibility at a time when they need it the most.”

While physical branches adjust schedules to accommodate demand, the bank emphasized that its digital platforms — the Metrobank Mobile App and Metrobank Online — remain available 24/7, enabling customers to conduct fund transfers, pay bills, and manage accounts without visiting a branch.

A full list of branches offering extended hours and Saturday operations is available on Metrobank’s official website.
