Visa ((NYSE: V) has launched a new payments education initiative in the Philippines aimed at strengthening industry expertise and preparing the next generation of banking and fintech professionals for a rapidly evolving digital payments landscape.
The global payments company recently introduced Visa University, a learning platform designed to equip banking, finance, and payments professionals with practical knowledge of the payments ecosystem, combining Visa’s industry expertise with real-world global and regional case studies.
The launch comes as digital payments continue to gain momentum in the Philippines, creating growing demand for professionals with specialized knowledge in areas such as card payments, digital commerce, risk management, and emerging financial technologies.
Led by Visa Consulting and Analytics (VCA), the company’s advisory and analytics division, Visa University held its inaugural forum at the Asian Institute of Management, attracting more than 100 participants from banks, fintech firms, merchants, and financial institutions.
The event covered foundational topics including card issuing, acquiring, and credit card business economics, while also examining emerging trends shaping the future of payments, such as agentic commerce, artificial intelligence-driven transactions, and advanced risk management solutions.

According to Jeffrey Navarro, Visa Country Manager for the Philippines, the initiative seeks to address the growing need for industry professionals who can navigate an increasingly complex payments environment while supporting the country’s broader digital transformation goals.
“The rapidly evolving payments landscape requires leaders who are curious and agile, while being strongly grounded in fundamentals,” Navarro said. “Through Visa University, we are investing in the development of future payments talent to help strengthen the resilience of the Philippine payments ecosystem.”
The program forms part of the global payments company’s broader efforts to support the country’s digital economy ambitions by helping develop a workforce capable of driving innovation while maintaining security and trust across payment systems.
Visa University also complements the services offered by Visa Consulting and Analytics, which advises banks, payment providers, and financial institutions on payment strategy, customer engagement, digital transformation, and business growth.
Prior to its Philippine launch, Visa University partnered with international business school INSEAD to deliver executive education programs focused on emerging payments technologies and innovations.
Looking ahead, the global payments company said it is exploring partnerships with local universities, academic institutions, and professional organizations to expand access to payments education and develop customized training programs for the Philippine market.
The move underscores the growing recognition that talent development and industry education will play a critical role in supporting the continued expansion of digital payments, fintech innovation, and financial inclusion across the country.
