Metrobank and Mastercard are giving Filipino cardholders a new way to contribute to environmental restoration—simply by using their credit cards for everyday purchases.
Beginning June 30 until December 30, 2026, Metrobank Mastercard credit cardholders can convert their accumulated rewards points into tree-planting contributions through Mastercard’s Priceless Planet Coalition, transforming routine spending into tangible action for the environment.
The initiative also aligns with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ (BSP) push for sustainable finance among financial institutions. Under its Sustainable Finance Framework, the central bank encourages banks to integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations into their business strategies and develop products and services that support sustainable development.
By linking rewards redemption to reforestation efforts, the bank‘s partnership with Mastercard demonstrates how consumer banking products can contribute to broader sustainability objectives while encouraging greater customer participation.
Under the initiative, every 8,000 rewards points redeemed through the Metrobank app or via SMS will fund the planting of four trees. The campaign is part of the bank’s initiative to encourage customers to support sustainability while continuing their regular spending habits.
The program is anchored on the Priceless Planet Coalition, Mastercard’s global environmental initiative that brings together financial institutions, businesses, and consumers to help restore forests around the world. Restoration projects under the coalition are guided by global environmental organizations Conservation International and the World Resources Institute, which use science-based approaches to identify restoration sites and oversee the long-term monitoring of reforestation efforts.
For the Ty-led bank, the partnership reflects a growing effort to integrate sustainability into everyday banking experiences, giving customers a simple way to create positive environmental impact without changing their purchasing habits.
“This partnership lets everyday spending do something more meaningful. It’s our way of helping customers not just manage their finances, but also support causes that matter, making impact part of daily life,” said Gail Male, Head of Metrobank Credit Cards, Personal Loans and Digital Channels Group.

Mastercard said the initiative demonstrates how financial services can encourage collective action toward addressing environmental challenges.
“We are happy to partner with Metrobank and enable their clients to make a positive impact on the environment. Together with Metrobank, we are turning everyday purchases into opportunities to support reforestation and create lasting impact,” said Jason Crasto, Mastercard Country Manager.
The campaign comes as more financial institutions worldwide expand sustainability-focused programs that encourage consumers to participate in environmental initiatives through their daily financial activities. By linking rewards programs to reforestation efforts, Metrobank and Mastercard aim to make environmental stewardship more accessible and relevant to everyday consumers.
Cardholders can participate by continuing to use the Ty-led bank Mastercard credit cards for purchases and accumulating rewards points, which can later be redeemed through the Metrobank App or SMS to support tree planting under the Priceless Planet Coalition.
The initiative reinforces the bank’s commitment to helping customers make financial decisions that not only benefit their personal finances but also contribute to broader social and environmental goals, demonstrating how even ordinary transactions can help create a more sustainable future.
