The Nasdaq Equity Income Feeder Fund is gaining traction among Philippine investors as ATRAM rolls out a new offering designed to balance capital growth with regular income.
At a time when market volatility continues to challenge traditional equity strategies, the fund offers a structured way for investors to remain exposed to global innovation while generating consistent monthly cash flow.
The newly launched fund provides exposure to Nasdaq-listed companies while incorporating an income-generating strategy through covered calls. By combining technology-driven growth potential with disciplined income generation, it positions itself as a hybrid solution for investors navigating uncertain market conditions.

A strategy built for income and innovation
The fund is anchored on a dual objective: capturing the long-term growth potential of leading technology companies while delivering regular income to investors.
Unlike traditional equity funds that rely primarily on capital appreciation, this strategy incorporates a covered call approach, allowing the fund to generate income through option premiums.
“What we are trying to do here is achieve higher income as the outcome for clients,” said Christian Mariani, Investment Specialist at J.P. Morgan Asset Management.
The strategy involves selling call options on the Nasdaq-100 Index, effectively turning market volatility into a source of income while maintaining exposure to some of the world’s largest technology companies.

“What we are trying to do here is we are trying to have higher income as the outcome for clients,” explains Mariani. “This underscores the strategy’s focus on income as a primary objective, not just a byproduct of investing.”
By selling call options on the Nasdaq-100 Index, the fund transforms volatility into income. This means that instead of being purely exposed to market swings, investors can benefit from them — while maintaining exposure to some of the world’s most innovative companies.
Turning market volatility into monthly cash flow
One of the fund’s defining features is its ability to generate recurring income through option premiums.
Historically, the underlying strategy has delivered annual income of around 9% to 11%, distributed monthly, although returns are not guaranteed and remain subject to market conditions.

According to Mariani, volatility plays a key role in the strategy’s income-generating potential.
“The higher the volatility, the higher the income you can generate when selling options,” he said.
This allows investors to potentially benefit from periods of heightened market uncertainty rather than simply absorbing downside risk.
Mariani also noted that the income component can help cushion portfolio declines.
“Income acts as a buffer on the downside,” he added.
Bridging growth and stability
Positioned between traditional equities and income-focused investments, the fund offers exposure to high-growth Nasdaq companies while introducing a layer of downside support through its income overlay.
Rory Caines said the strategy is designed to help investors remain invested through volatile periods.
“It allows investors to stay invested and benefit from volatility,” he said.
Meanwhile, Miguel Liboro said the income feature can help shape investor behaviour during uncertain market cycles.
“It helps keep investors invested during these periods because they know they are receiving that income,” he said.
A shift toward more balanced equity investing
The launch reflects a broader shift in how investors are approaching global equities, with growing demand for strategies that combine growth exposure with more predictable income.
By pairing Nasdaq exposure with a disciplined options-based strategy, the fund offers a more balanced approach to participating in global equity markets.
As investor preferences continue to evolve, products that deliver both income and long-term growth are becoming increasingly relevant.
In that context, ATRAM’s Nasdaq Equity Income Feeder Fund offers Philippine investors another option for managing volatility while staying invested in global innovation.
