Drawing more than 130 education leaders from across the Philippines, the event centered on the transformative potential of AI and advanced technologies in education, specifically showcasing the cutting-edge PowerSchool Schoology Learning platform and its AI-driven assistant, PowerBuddy.

“We were delighted to partner with REX Education for this Innovation in Education Summit in Manila. In addition to sharing insights with leading educational providers from across the Philippines, we were able to showcase personalized learning for every child with our artificial intelligence offering, PowerBuddy,” stated Stewart Monk, Senior Vice President and General Manager for International at PowerSchool.

Monk further emphasized that PowerSchool’s products currently empower over 60 million students worldwide, and the summit has provided a critical opportunity for the company to explore the future of education in the Philippines, particularly in preparing schools for AI integration and establishing best practices.

PowerSchool shares success stories and insights

Educators and administrators from over 70 schools attended the summit, some overcoming significant travel challenges due to Typhoon Kristine, to learn how Schoology Learning can harness technology and data to enhance educational experiences.

The audience was not only introduced to PowerSchool’s AI advancements but also had the chance to hear directly from existing PowerSchool users who shared success stories and insights on implementing Schoology Learning to enhance educational outcomes.

The summit addressed the urgency of elevating the Philippine education system, following the country’s performance in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) rankings, which was impacted by COVID-19-related learning losses.

Francis Jim B. Tuscano, EdTech Coordinator and CLE Department Chair at Xavier School-San Juan, discussed the significance of digital integration as students transition back to on-site learning.

Tuscano highlighted Xavier School’s use of Schoology Learning, which supports various functionalities such as course management, student engagement, flexible learning options, assessment and grading, and professional development for teachers, as well as parental involvement.

In addition to Schoology, PowerSchool presented a range of solutions, including PowerSchool Connected Intelligence K-12, PowerBuddy for Data Analysis, PowerSchool Curriculum & Instruction, MyPowerHub, and various specialized features of PowerBuddy, such as PowerBuddy for Custom AI, Engagement, and Learning.

These products are designed to provide holistic support across K-12 education, encompassing data management, customized learning, and engagement tools.

Commitment to responsible AI

The K-12 education software company’s commitment to responsible AI was another highlight of the summit, with the company detailing its principles for developing human-centered, fair, and transparent AI solutions.

These responsible AI guidelines ensure that PowerBuddy and other AI tools are designed with stringent data governance, privacy, and security standards. Such measures align with PowerSchool’s mission to make technology in education safe and accessible while respecting the integrity and privacy of student data.

With the success of this event, PowerSchool and REX Education hope to inspire further dialogue and collaboration on the ethical use of AI in education, helping Filipino educators navigate the rapidly changing technological landscape.

Educators left the summit equipped with valuable insights and tools to integrate AI responsibly, ultimately striving to enhance learning outcomes for students across the Philippines.

Despite fears of job displacement due to the growing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), a study about AI and its impact on employment in the country’s booming IT and Business Process Management reveals that rather than eliminating jobs, AI is driving welcome changes in the IT-BPM sector, which remains one of the largest contributors to the country’s economy.
