Kwik.insure launches affordable monthly health subscriptions; targets MSMEs, freelancers
Kwik.insure, the Philippines’ leading multichannel insurance platform,
has launched KwikCare Health Subscriptions, affordable and monthly-billed
healthcare plans designed for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and
unserved individuals.
Latest data from the Insurance Commission (IC) showed that only 5
percent of Filipinos have healthcare plans. The same report also showed that
out of over 1 million companies in the Philippines, only 2 percent are
providing healthcare coverage for their employees and dependents with most
being large enterprises.
“So many MSMEs and Filipinos are trying to get health coverage. But
they are challenged with the affordability of plans, rigidity of requirements,
and the cash burden of upfront fees. We are here to help solve these problems
by providing the unserved and MSMEs affordable subscription plans. We believe
that there is a huge market for KwikCare Health Subscriptions,” Kwik.insure CEO
Hamilton Angluben said.
Startups and MSMEs usually pay more for healthcare plans given their
low employee count and lack of utilization history. Health insurance providers
are also challenged to manually serve thousands of these smaller companies
resulting in higher costs and slower turnaround times. Such challenges are
amplified for individuals.
“KwikCare Health Subscriptions are perfect not only for startups and
MSMEs but are also great for individuals. The challenges faced by these groups
are similar and can be addressed through digitalization, progressive
underwriting, and collaboration. We are excited to launch the Philippine-first
health subscription plans and will introduce more inclusive variants in the
coming months,” said Angluben.
Compared to traditional plans, these subscriptions do not have lock-in
periods and are renewed monthly. Applications are fully digital and approvals
are done in real time. Subscriptions start at P995 per month with a maximum
benefit limit per illness of P50,000 up to P150,000.
Aside from MSMEs, Kwik.insure also targets freelancers in the Philippines.
“There are over 1.5 million freelancers in the Philippines. Aside from
employees, there are also millions of dependents. We have professionals and
solo entrepreneurs as well. All these Filipinos are looking for affordable,
flexible, and accessible healthcare coverage,” said Gani Cuyugan, Chief Sales
Officer of Kwik.insure.
KwikCare Health Subscriptions is medical insurance that provides free
access to check ups, in-patient and out-patient care, and emergency
hospitalization. One of the main features is that there is no cash-out needed
in its accredited clinics and hospitals nationwide.
KwikCare Health Subscriptions are underwritten by Etiqa, which provides
access to over 2,000 hospitals and clinics and 30,000 physicians. These plans
will be available through Kwik.insure’s website, digital distribution channels,
and affinity partners.
Kwik.insure is the Philippine’s leading multichannel insurance platform. Our mission is to accelerate insurance inclusion through technology, product design, and partnerships. We envision to be the most valuable insurance partner to our clients and collaborators in Southeast Asia.
