Even though Pride Month has already been concluded last June, mobile e-wallet GCash has announced that it is extending the celebration by enhancing its benefits package to now also cover an employee’s domestic partner and LGBTQIA+ individuals.

An executive from GCash presents the e-wallet company’s latest life program on gender equality

In a recent media advisory, GCash said that it has aligned the campaign to advance gender equality as mandated in SDG No. 5 of the United Nations.

Under the new program, employees will now be able to extend benefits to their partners regardless of their gender or marital status.

The life program will offer recipients various services, which include health insurance as well as disability and accident insurance. According to Robert Gonzales, GCash Chief People Officer, the new package will cover bereavement expenses and wellness benefits while also providing access to digital applications like KonsultaMD and Mind You.

“At GCash, we understand that our employees have different needs, including wanting to take care of their loved ones,” Gonzales said.

Employees who report their partners as dependents would just need to provide the barest minimum of paperwork.

“We made sure that this program’s application process is quick and uncomplicated. Without prejudice or discrimination, we want all of our GCash kabarkadas to have access to company perks that would improve their quality of life,” Gonzales continued.

In April this year, both GCash and its rival Maya placed first on LinkedIn’s list of the finest businesses to watch in 2023, with Mynt, GCash’s parent firm, coming in at second place, and Maya’s parent company following closely at third place.

Accordingly, both GCash and Binance were named as the most dependable fintech platforms in the country in 2022, according to the Special Industry Report on FinTech (Financial Technology) in the Philippines as revealed by WR Numero Research (WRN), a polling and data analytics firm.

There are currently 77 million active users of the mobile e-wallet as of 2023.

Globe Telecom CEO Ernest Cu said that GCash is prepared for its much-awaited Initial Public Offering (IPO) debut this year, remarking that the company is “pretty much ripe”.

Additionally, GCredit, the revolving credit line function of the GCash app, has reported that it now has more than two million users as of April 2023.

A cryptocurrency trading platform called GCrypto, an in-app stock trading platform called GStocks, lending and installment services called GCredit, GLoan, and GGives, as well as global access called GCash Overseas were all unveiled at GCash’s annual FutureCast Summit in March.
