The Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP), the country’s premier organization for public relations professionals, has just announced the winners of this year’s Anvil Awards in a grand “Gabi ng Parangal” ceremony held in Pasay City recently.
The Anvil Awards is an annual public relations awards program in the Philippines given to select public relations nominees for their exemplary performance in the field.

Among those conferred the honorary Anvil Award is the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), which won a Silver Anvil for its coin deposit campaign that saw the deployment of several Coin Deposit Machines (CoDMs) in partner retail establishments like SM and Robinsons across the Greater Manila Area.
The PRSP cited the BSP’s “Bawat Barya Mahalaga: Coin Deposit Machine Communication Campaign” as an effective program to communicate products and services in the technology space to external audiences. Its goal is to encourage the public to deposit their idle coins in the CoDMs and to promote the efficient recirculation of coins throughout the country.
The Silver ANVIL Award, which the BSP had won for its coin recirculation campaign, was under the E-commerce and Retail category. The program was credited for its effective use of PR tools and strategies that help improve e-commerce reach, drive business growth, and increase brand, product, and/or service awareness.
The PRSP, which gives tribute to public relations work that inspires action, shifts perspective or champions positivity, usually confers the Silver Anvil Awards to the best programs and tools in the country that meet the highest standards set in each category.
Nearly 90 million worth of coins have already been deposited in CoDMs
Since its launch last June 20, 2023, the BSP reported that nearly P90 million worth of coins have already been deposited through the CoDMs. It was also reported that more than 20,000 transactions have been made as of September 22, 2023.
The CoDMs currently accept all denominations of the BSP’s Coin Series and the New Generation Currency Coin Series launched in 2018, ranging from a centavo to as high as P20.
Latest data also revealed that the coins deposited into the machines were mostly credited to customers’ e-wallets, while a portion was exchanged for shopping vouchers.
Through the CoDMs, customers can deposit legal tender coins and have the equivalent amount credited to their GCash accounts.
In using the machines, the central bank advised customers that the coins to be deposited should not be taped or bundled, should not come with other objects like buttons, magnets, nails, tokens, screws, and/or washers, and should be placed gently in the coin slot.
The BSP also advised customers to make sure that their e-wallet accounts are valid, active, and within the prescribed transaction limits.
In a press statement, the BSP also announced that it is now working to onboard Maya, an e-wallet firm, to provide more mobile wallet options to the public.
