Jon Blaylock, the founder and CEO of 3lock, a blockchain-based investing company, has recently established a contribution drive for grassroots churches that utilizes cryptocurrency. Dubbed “Project Ophir Crypto,” its goal is to offer materials and education to self-organized religious communities in the Philippines and other poor nations globally.

The name OPHIR, which was derived from a biblical region where King Solomon acquired the best gold in antiquity to build the Lord’s temple, is a decentralized digital currency that makes use of the endowment smart contract on the blockchain.

A worldwide Bitcoin fundraising campaign

“There are numerous crypto groups worldwide that are fervently committed to aiding those in need. We live in a world with plenty. I am adamant that the issue we have is a gatekeeping issue rather than a resource issue. These churches may gain access to that riches and build relationships with the next generation of donors by embracing cryptocurrency,” said Blaylock in a press statement.

According to Blaylock, part of their company’s strategy entails a worldwide Bitcoin fundraising campaign to raise money for the Cavite-based General Mariano Alvarez Fellowship of Christian Churches (GMAFEC). The amount will subsequently be used by GMAFEC to sustain its operations further and offer training to thousands of congregations.

Donors can contribute Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC), Ether (ETH), Smooth Love Potion (SLP), Hex (HEX), or Texan (TEXAN) using GMAFEC’s dedicated cryptocurrency wallet. In return, donors shall receive Ophir tokens as donation rewards, which will have no monetary worth, but when Ophir becomes tradable in the future, these (tokens) may eventually increase in value.

“Galvanized communities can overcome obstacles to financial inclusion through the power of blockchain technology, enabling access to the wealth of resources on our planet,” he adds.

Additionally, the Ophir community has promised to help church leaders, members, and communities understand how cryptocurrency can power social and humanitarian programs. The community added that they will offer training on how to use other exponential technologies in order to get ready for the fourth industrial revolution.
