After its launch about a year ago, “Axie Infinity: Origins” is now fully playable on iOS devices. The NFT game’s availability on the Apple App Store was confirmed earlier this week after Sky Mavis released a statement about this new development.

Before this, only an external program called TestFlight provided access to the Origins version for iOS devices. The same company announcement also launched Mavis Market, a new non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace.

According to a statement from Sky Mavis, “Axie Infinity: Origins will be one of the first Web3-native trading card games to launch on both desktop and mobile platforms, extending the game’s reach to include a wider non-web3 native audience.”

The CEO of Sky Mavis, Trung Nguyen, said that the company remains committed to its vision of a player-owner digital nation and “is excited to work with app stores to open our ecosystem to a new generation of Lunacians.”

Origins of Axie Infinity on iOS

Apple users will initially only be able to download “Axie Infinity: Origins” in a select number of Latin American nations, including Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, and Venezuela, as well as several other Asian countries like the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam.

To guarantee that mobile users would have access to the same functionality, the developers assured the public that they are closely collaborating with Google and Apple.

The developers also provided access to the game via Android devices as part of the game’s official release.

A marketplace for NFTs for Sky Mavis

Users should be able to purchase, sell, and display NFTs powered by Ronin, a private blockchain developed just for Sky Mavis. The company claims the marketplace will also sell a few limited-edition collectibles made by independent game or DApp developers who use Ronin.

According to Sky Mavis, the initiative aims to build on the success of Axie Infinity and its marketplace by enabling independent games to improve ownership, interoperability, and potential cross-game integration by integrating key features.

According to Nguyen, the launch of Axie Origins on the app store and the Mavis Marketplace represents a critical turning point in developing a more open and dynamic web3 gaming experience.

Additionally, he noted that the community would soon receive upgrades with the opening of its online store. Sky Mavis expressed delight at giving their neighborhood more opportunities to interact with the Axie Infinity brand.

Firms that are scheduled to release games on Ronin are Battle Bears, Directive Games, Tribes, Bali Games, and Bowled.io. They will also soon have their memorabilia accessible on the Mavis Market.

“We have enormous plans for the Mavis Market Launch at Tribes Studio, and we are enthusiastic about it,” said Glenn McGuire, CEO of Tribes. “We have a variety of initiatives that will use the NFT marketplace to engage with our community and to help bring our Tribesters World to life.”

The development of membership NFTs for their exclusive platform, NFT campaigns for engagement and collectibles, and the ground-breaking Tribesters Genesis NFT Pack are just a few of the projects that McGuire revealed are currently underway and show the potential of the Mavis Market.

More about “Axie Infinity: Origins”

The third iteration of the game, “Axie Infinity: Origins,” features the gameplay at this time. Unlike Axie Infinity: Classic, a turn-based card battler where players form teams of Axies to battle it out in the arena, the game’s new principles now permit players to attack simultaneously.

The game’s Early Access version was made available on April 7, 2022, and to make the gameplay more approachable, beginning Axies were added.

The CEO emphasized, “We have exciting improvements coming soon, including the long-awaited launch of our merch store. We are happy to continue offering our community new opportunities to interact with the Axie Infinity brand.

Sky Mavis recently upgraded Ronin to Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS), with much success. Four gaming studios will gain access to the Axie Infinity intellectual property (IP) for their games or will be able to create new games with their unique IP on Ronin, thanks to the ecosystem provided by the blockchain.

The Alpha build of “Axie Infinity: Homeland,” released by Sky Mavis in January this year, marks the start of Phase 1 in the game’s roadmap. It will include ideas for the NFT Axie gameplay and introduce land tokens as well as mobile accessibility in later phases.
