Solution aims to help APAC customers reap digital transformation benefits in a secure cloud environment.

Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence backbone of Alibaba Group, announced recently that it is collaborating with IBM to provide a much safer security solution for businesses in APAC markets.

The security solution will integrate various features of IBM’s security products — QRadar SIEM and QRadar SOAR — as well as Alibaba Cloud’s wide range of security capabilities. It will also provide new services that include real-time reporting and centralized visibility into the cloud environment to readily detect threats such as ransomware, insider threats, and cloud attacks, among other threats.

The co-developed solution aims to mitigate mounting cybersecurity risks while creating a secure, stable, and protected cloud environment for clients during their digital transformation journey.

According to IBM’s X-Force Threat Intelligence Index 2023, there were twice as many threat hijacking attempts per month in 2022, compared to 2021 data. Asia-Pacific retained the top spot as the most-attacked region in 2022, accounting for 31% of all incidents.

Alibaba Cloud’s recent cloud survey “The Next-Generation Cloud Strategy in Asia” also reveals Asian companies’ concerns about security threats: Among reasons for their choice of public cloud, participants singled out better security as one of their utmost considerations.

“To help our customers best reap the benefits of digital transformation, we need to help them create a well-protected environment so they can focus on their products and business strategies,” said  Edward Cai, Chief Commercial Officer of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence.

“With Alibaba Cloud’s extensive experience in fending off cybersecurity risks, along with security experts from our ecosystem partners such as IBM, we are well positioned to offer our services to serve customers’ interest in the cybersecurity space,” he added.

“With a rich portfolio of security services and products, and empowered by our security experts worldwide, IBM is trusted by thousands of organizations as their partner to assess, strategize, implement, and manage security transformations. Through collaboration with Alibaba Cloud, we are ready to serve many more enterprises in APAC markets with advanced security solutions and help them thrive in the face of uncertainty,” said Charles Kiang, General Manager of IBM Technology Sales, APAC.

The security solution extends visibility to integrated cloud platforms by collecting, normalizing, and analyzing events. Therefore, the solution can help enterprises detect potential threats and accelerate and orchestrate their response to any abnormalities rapidly by automating actions with intelligence.

The solution is designed to help customers – particularly those in the internet, finance, retail, and manufacturing industries — to meet their respective security requirements and obligations. With over 130 security certificates worldwide, Alibaba Cloud has adhered to international information security standards and is committed to adopting international best practices.
