YAZZ Prepaid cardholders, heads up! Metrobank has just announced that all YAZZ Prepaid Cards will be deactivated starting February 18, 2025.

This means you won’t be able to use your card for purchases and ATM withdrawals anymore after that date.

YAZZ card holders: What to do before February 18

There are a couple of things you can do with your remaining YAZZ Prepaid Card balance before it gets deactivated:

  • Use it up: You can continue to use your prepaid card for swiping transactions at stores and withdrawing cash at ATMs until February 17, 2025. This is the most convenient option if you plan to spend all your remaining balance.
  • Transfer it to your Metrobank account: If you have an existing Metrobank deposit or prepaid account, you can easily transfer your YAZZ Prepaid Card balance by calling the YAZZ customer service hotline at (02) 87-373-333 or 0917-800-5751. Just make sure both accounts are under your name to ensure a smooth transfer.

What if I don’t have a Metrobank account?

If you don’t have a Metrobank account yet, you can open a Metrobank eSavings account via the Earnest App.

The Earnest App is a mobile app that allows you to open an account online quickly and conveniently. Once you have a Metrobank eSavings account, you can then contact YAZZ customer service to request a balance transfer.

Important reminders

  • You can still reload your YAZZ Prepaid Card until December 31, 2024. However, Metrobank advises users to avoid reloading their cards anymore after this date to prevent any inconvenience.
  • In case you won’t be able to use up your balance before February 18th, there will be a monthly inactivity fee of PHP 25 charged to your account after 180 days of inactivity until your balance reaches zero.
  • If you choose to transfer your balance to a Metrobank account, the transfer will reflect in 5 banking days.
  • YAZZ Prepaid Card operates outside Metrobank’s branch network. This means you cannot walk in to any Metrobank branch to request a balance transfer or claim your remaining balance.

You can visit the YAZZ Prepaid Decommission FAQs page at https://www.metrobank.com.ph/ for more details and frequently asked questions.

What’s next after YAZZ Prepaid Card deactivation?

Metrobank is encouraging YAZZ Prepaid Card users to switch to a Metrobank eSavings account via the Earnest App. This will allow you to continue enjoying Metrobank’s products and services.

Earlier this year, Metrobank was recognized with a Gold Stevies at the recently held 2024 International Business Awards for its ‘Grow With Metrobank’ campaign, which tell the stories of growth from customers’ and Metrobankers’ perspective.

The campaign had two parts: first is a customer story video, which is based on how the bank has helped clients in their journeys to success as told from customers’ point of view. It was complemented by a series of culture videos, which showcased the customer-first mindset among Metrobankers, underscoring the importance of delivering the Bank’s promised services to clients.

The ‘Grow with Metrobank’ campaign videos are the only Gold awardee and Philippine company recognized under the Video for Financial Services-Banking category. Winners in the video categories are those who qualified to have produced excellent videos for work-or business-related purposes.

Safely disposing of your YAZZ Prepaid Card

Brandcomm

Once your YAZZ Prepaid Card is deactivated, Metrobank recommends that you dispose of it properly. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Cut the card into pieces, particularly the magnetic stripe and EMV chip. This will help prevent unauthorized access to your card information.
  2. Dispose of the card pieces in separate trash bags or containers. This will make it more difficult for someone to piece together your card information.

By following these steps, you can ensure that your personal and financial information is protected even after your YAZZ Prepaid Card is deactivated.
