Vertiv launches modular data center system in Asia to support PH fintech and AI growth

As Philippine fintech firms scale up digital payments, online lending, and AI-powered services, the country’s data center sector is under growing pressure to expand faster and more efficiently.

Global digital infrastructure company Vertiv has introduced a new modular system aimed at speeding up data center deployment across Asia, including the Philippines.

The company announced the launch of Vertiv SmartRun, a prefabricated overhead infrastructure platform that combines power distribution, liquid cooling, network cabling, and hot-aisle containment into a single system. Vertiv said the solution can reduce on-site installation time by up to 85 percent compared with traditional construction methods.

For the Philippines, where e-wallet usage, digital banking, and real-time transactions continue to rise, the need for reliable and scalable data centers has become increasingly critical. These facilities serve as the backbone for cloud services used by fintech firms for transaction processing, cybersecurity, and data analytics.

Vertiv™ SmartRun is designed for both new data center builds and retrofits, making it relevant for operators expanding existing facilities in space-constrained urban locations such as Metro Manila and nearby technology hubs.

Instead of installing power lines, cooling pipes, and network cabling separately, operators can deploy the system as a pre-assembled, plug-and-play unit.

Faster builds for AI-driven, high-density data centers

Modern Datacenter

“Across Asia, data center operators are under pressure to grow quickly while managing limited space, labor shortages, and rising power densities driven by AI and cloud computing,” said Tony Gaunt, vice president for products and solutions at Vertiv Asia. “SmartRun helps address these challenges by enabling faster and more predictable deployments.”

The system also integrates a secondary fluid network to support liquid cooling, a feature that is becoming increasingly important as AI workloads generate higher heat levels than traditional IT equipment. Fintech companies are among the sectors adopting AI for fraud detection, credit scoring, and customer service automation, adding to the demand for high-density computing environments.

Vertiv said SmartRun is backed by its liquid cooling and technical services teams, which provide installation and ongoing maintenance support. The company added that the system is designed to help data center operators shorten time to revenue while reducing engineering and labor complexity.

The platform was introduced to the Asian market at the SCA/HPCAsia 2026 conference in Osaka, Japan, where Vertiv showcased how prefabricated infrastructure can accelerate the rollout of high-performance and AI-ready data centers.

In the Philippines, where regulators continue to push for stronger system resilience and cybersecurity standards in digital finance, industry observers say faster and more scalable data center deployment could become a competitive advantage for both operators and the fintech firms they support.

Vertiv said the SmartRun system is now available across Asia as part of its broader portfolio of power, cooling, and digital infrastructure solutions.
