Greentech Ecobooster powers ahead as Shell LiveWire 2025 champion, secures ₱1 million in equity-free funding

Filipino startup Greentech Ecobooster emerged as the big winner at the Shell LiveWire 2025 Final Pitch Day, held during Echelon Philippines 2025 at the SMX Convention Center this September.

The company secured ₱1 million in equity-free cash funding from Shell Pilipinas Corporation (SPC) for its groundbreaking fuel-optimization technology — a device that could reshape how everyday Filipinos use and save on fuel.

At the heart of Greentech Ecobooster’s innovation is a patented nozzle technology designed to make combustion engines burn fuel more efficiently. Using aerodynamic turbulators inside the nozzle, the device disperses fuel into ultra-fine droplets, creating a consistent and optimal air-to-fuel mix.

This process leads to a more complete fuel burn, resulting in higher mileage, lower emissions, reduced fuel costs, and improved engine performance.

Greentech Ecobooster: From tricycle drivers to nationwide impact

The startup’s potential was demonstrated in pilot initiatives with tricycle drivers in Parañaque City, where daily fuel costs dropped significantly, and engines ran more efficiently.

For drivers who rely on every peso saved, the device could mean higher take-home income and longer-lasting vehicles.

“Our focus has always been to think beyond innovation and work toward inclusive growth,” said Rowena Bernardo, Co-Founder of Greentech Ecobooster. “Shell LiveWire has given us the platform to sharpen our vision and expand our product’s impact — starting with tricycle drivers and eventually reaching more sectors nationwide. Our goal is to help Filipinos save on fuel while contributing to cleaner, more efficient energy use.”

Competing innovations, shared vision

Two other Filipino startups, AgriDOM and Pili AdheSeal Inc., also received ₱500,000 each, presenting solutions in smart agriculture and sustainable construction.

AgriDOM presented its drone-as-a-service model for precision farming. Instead of requiring farmers to buy costly drones, the company offers drone spraying and mapping on demand, making the technology accessible even to smallholder farmers.

Since its founding, AgriDOM has already served over 2,000 farmers in Visayas and Mindanao, covering more than 300,000 hectares of rice, corn, banana, and coffee farms. By reducing chemical exposure and lowering input costs, the model not only boosts yields but also makes farming safer and more sustainable.

Pili AdheSeal, on the other hand, showcased how circular economy principles can create both value and livelihood. Founded by Engineer Mark Bantugon, the company transforms discarded pili nut shells and resin into eco-friendly adhesives and sealants.

The innovation, inspired by his childhood experience of patching a typhoon-damaged roof with chewing gum, is now certified for defense and aviation use.

Beyond its performance — curing in 30 seconds, resisting extreme heat, and meeting ISO construction standards — the product also supports pili farmers, who gain income from what was once agricultural waste.

While their technologies showcased the diversity of Filipino innovation, Greentech Ecobooster stood out for its immediate relevance to millions of fuel-dependent commuters and motorists across the country.

A win for Filipinos and the environment

By addressing both fuel efficiency and emissions reduction, Greentech Ecobooster offers dual benefits: helping Filipino households cut transportation costs while supporting the country’s climate goals.

With transportation being one of the Philippines’ largest sources of carbon emissions, widespread adoption of this technology could have a measurable impact on sustainability efforts.

Shell LiveWire’s role in driving change

Now in its 40th year globally and 5th year in the Philippines, Shell LiveWire continues to nurture homegrown entrepreneurs who are reimagining the future of energy, sustainability, and inclusive growth. Beyond financial grants, participants receive mentorship, expert guidance, and access to networks that help scale their innovations.

Since its local inception in 2020, the program has supported more than 180 startups, created 900+ jobs, and helped 16 local businesses enter Shell’s supply chain — demonstrating its impact on both community livelihoods and the national innovation landscape.

“Programs like Shell LiveWire are not just about technology; they’re about empowering communities and building a future-ready Philippines,” said Baste Quiñones, Executive Director of Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc.

With its Shell LiveWire win, Greentech Ecobooster is poised to expand its reach — from tricycle drivers to broader transport fleets, logistics companies, and potentially even financing and other industrial applications.

For everyday Filipinos, this could mean lower fuel expenses, cleaner air, and stronger local innovation leading the way toward a sustainable future.
