Financial literacy has long been a missing piece in the journey of many Filipino students. While they are considered digital natives, most still lack the tools and guidance needed to make informed financial decisions early in life.
To address this gap, GCash launched the GCash GMindset Bootcamps, a series of financial literacy workshops conducted in partnership with leading universities across the Philippines. These bootcamps aim to equip students with practical skills in budgeting, saving, and investing — empowering them to make confident money decisions and thrive in a rapidly evolving digital economy.
GCash GMindset bootcamps build practical financial literacy skills
The GCash GMindset Bootcamps are carefully designed to blend foundational financial literacy with real-world application. Unlike traditional seminars that focus only on lectures, these bootcamps offer an interactive and hands-on approach to learning.
Early sessions were held at Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) and Far Eastern University (FEU), drawing hundreds of students eager to develop better money habits. Participants were guided through topics such as budgeting, setting financial goals, understanding compound interest, and building emergency funds.

To ensure students can immediately put their learnings into action, the bootcamps include on-site support to help them access key GCash financial tools.
They can open digital savings accounts through GSave, start beginner-friendly investment portfolios with GInvest, and even get their own GCash Visa Card.
This experiential approach bridges the gap between theory and practice, helping students not only understand financial concepts but also use them in real life. By integrating these tools into the sessions, GCash encourages students to build consistent saving and investing habits from an early age.

Moreover, the bootcamps promote digital financial literacy — a critical skill as the Philippines transitions toward a cash-lite economy. By familiarizing students with digital platforms, GCash prepares them to navigate future financial landscapes with confidence and security.
Expanding GCash GMindset bootcamps through university partnerships
To reach a wider audience, GCash has formed partnerships with top universities nationwide. Confirmed schools include PUP, FEU, Adamson University, University of the Philippines (Diliman and Clark), Ateneo de Manila University, and Centro Escolar University-Manila.
Through these collaborations, the GCash GMindset Bootcamps gain access to students from various academic disciplines, financial backgrounds, and career aspirations, ensuring that financial literacy becomes a shared goal across the higher education sector.

GCash has rolled out a calendar of upcoming bootcamps scheduled throughout September, including Adamson University on the 9th, UP Clark on the 19th, Ateneo de Manila University on the 20th, and CEU Manila on the 24th.
More partner schools are expected to be announced in the coming months, further extending the reach of the program. This nationwide rollout reflects GCash’s long-term vision of embedding financial education into students’ everyday learning experiences.

By bringing these bootcamps directly to campuses, GCash eliminates common barriers to financial learning, such as cost, access, and lack of time. It positions financial literacy not as an optional add-on but as a vital part of holistic student development.
GCash GMindset bootcamps advance financial inclusion
At its core, the GCash GMindset Bootcamps initiative aims to promote financial inclusion and empower the youth to participate in the formal financial system.
According to John Garcia, Head of Customer Success for Wealth Management at GCash, many young Filipinos are interested in managing their money but lack access to structured guidance and trustworthy platforms. By addressing this need, GMindset equips students with both the knowledge and tools to make informed financial decisions.
The bootcamps also contribute to national efforts to reduce financial exclusion. By teaching students how to save using GSave and invest with GInvest, GCash helps them build early financial footprints within the formal economy.
This reduces reliance on informal lending channels and encourages the development of long-term wealth-building habits. Furthermore, it fosters a culture of financial confidence, where students are no longer intimidated by financial concepts or digital platforms.
As more students complete the bootcamps, GCash expects a ripple effect: financially literate youth who will influence their peers, families, and future workplaces. This network effect can accelerate the country’s transition toward a financially empowered population, driving inclusive economic growth.
Paving the way for a financially literate generation

The GCash GMindset Bootcamps mark a significant step forward in nurturing a financially savvy generation of Filipinos.
By merging education, technology, and accessibility, GCash has created a platform that not only teaches financial concepts but also provides the means to practice them immediately. Students leave these bootcamps with more than just theoretical knowledge — they gain the confidence, habits, and tools to manage their finances responsibly.
As GCash continues expanding the program to more universities, its impact will likely extend beyond individual students to the broader economy. Financially literate graduates are better equipped to make sound financial choices, contribute to sustainable economic growth, and inspire their communities to do the same.
With GMindset, GCash is proving that building a financially inclusive Philippines begins with empowering the youth.
