Bitget brings Starlink-powered internet to over 7,300 students in remote Philippine islands

Global crypto exchange Bitget has expanded its Blockchain4Youth initiative in the Philippines, delivering high-speed satellite internet to six schools across Surigao del Norte, Siquijor, and Negros Oriental through a large-scale Starlink deployment — connecting more than 7,300 students and over 100 teachers in some of the country’s most underserved island communities.

The rollout marks a significant step in addressing persistent connectivity gaps that have long constrained digital learning in remote areas.

For many of the beneficiary schools, the installation represents their first experience of stable, high-speed internet — transforming classrooms that previously relied almost entirely on printed materials due to unreliable or nonexistent connectivity.

Schools supported under the program include Espoir School of Life and the Lasala Integrated School in Surigao del Norte; Apo Elementary School and the Arts & Design Collective Dumaguete in Negros Oriental; and Siquijor State College and Siquijor Provincial Science High School in Siquijor.

“Connectivity is the foundation of participation in the digital economy,” said Bitget CEO Gracy Chen. “By bringing Starlink to these island communities, we’re not just improving internet access—we’re opening doors for thousands of students to learn, create, and prepare for the future.”

Bitget: Building digital readiness beyond just connectivity

Bitget said the initiative goes beyond installing satellite internet.

Alongside each deployment, the company conducted educator consultations, digital readiness assessments, and pilot testing of its Blockchain4Youth learning modules.

These steps are designed to ensure schools can immediately integrate digital tools into teaching, while laying the groundwork for future Web3, blockchain, and digital literacy programs.

Teachers now have access to online training resources and updated curricula, while students can engage with interactive learning platforms, research tools, and collaborative applications that were previously out of reach.

The shift is expected to improve lesson delivery, expand subject exposure, and better align classroom learning with real-world digital skills.

Part of a broader inclusion push

The Starlink deployment forms part of Bitget’s broader PayFi Islands initiative, which focuses on extending digital infrastructure and financial education to underserved regions across the Philippines.

The company said it plans to continue rolling out connectivity solutions and skills-based programs to help communities overcome structural barriers to participation in the digital economy.

Education advocates note that reliable internet access remains one of the biggest constraints facing schools in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas, particularly in island provinces. By pairing connectivity with long-term educational support, initiatives like this can help narrow learning gaps and improve outcomes over time.

As the Philippines accelerates its push toward digital inclusion, Bitget’s Blockchain4Youth expansion highlights how private-sector platforms — particularly those rooted in emerging technologies — are increasingly playing a role in bridging infrastructure and education divides in remote communities.
